So, which method is more suitable for you? Laser or modern surgical techniques?

Is Laser Treatment Suitable for Everyone?

Laser (Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty) is essentially a process of shrinking the vascular bundle using high heat energy (coagulation). Yes, no incision is made, and it is comfortable in the early period. However, this method is only effective for what we call Stage 1 and 2 hemorrhoids—small ones that have not yet prolapsed and only cause bleeding.

If you have large, protruding lumps (Stage 3-4), laser cannot eliminate this tissue; it only shrinks it temporarily. Once the heat effect wears off, your complaints may recur. More importantly, uncontrollably applied laser energy can lead to deep burns in the anal muscles and a complication called anal stenosis (anal narrowing), which is very difficult to treat.

For this reason, in our clinic, we do not recommend laser to “everyone,” but only to suitable (early-stage) patients.

The Gold Standard: Ferguson (Closed) Method and Ligasure

For advanced-stage hemorrhoids, the “gold standard” methods accepted by surgeons worldwide are based on the excision (removal) of the tissue.

In surgeries performed with our preferred Ferguson (Closed) Hemorrhoidectomy or Ligasure technology:

The Problem is Solved at the Root: The diseased vascular cluster and sagging skin excess are completely removed.

Narrowing Risk is Prevented: Since sutures are placed while leaving healthy tissue bridges, the risk of anal stenosis is minimized.

Low Recurrence Probability: Because the problematic tissue is not left behind (unlike in laser where it is only burned), the probability of the disease recurring is very low.

What Determines the Price of Hemorrhoid Surgery?

Patients naturally research the price of hemorrhoid surgery. Prices vary according to the hospital’s equipment, the technology used (Laser, Ligasure, Ultrasonic cutters, etc.), and the type of anesthesia.

However, the most important criterion here is: “Will this method rid me of this trouble for a lifetime, or will I be undergoing surgery again 6 months later?”

Cheap or very short treatments (e.g., 5-10 minute laser procedures) may be insufficient for advanced-stage patients and may require revision surgeries later, which is a much more taxing process both financially and emotionally.

Conclusion: Trust Your Surgeon, Not the Device

In hemorrhoid treatment, there is no “best method,” only the “most suitable method for the patient.” A laser treatment that was good for your neighbor could cause great harm to your anatomical structure.

Our goal is not just to save you from temporary pain, but to provide permanent healing while protecting your anal functions (gas and stool continence, comfortable defecation). Therefore, you should make your treatment plan together with your surgeon based on the results of a detailed proctological examination, not on internet reviews.

Assoc.
